Renette Hartridge Exclusive Retreats UK

"I can tell you that now, two months into the complete Africology facial cleansing and anti-aging regime, I am loving using the products and loving the results! My fine lines are reduced, my skin is firmer, well-moisturized and almost dewy-like. I appreciate organic quality raw materials are expensive - please never settle for second best on account of price! This is in part why I share your passion for the product and its premium i am prepared to pay. I love Afrioclogy and believe in the common sense of the value ofnot putting chemicals on my face

Amy Lawrenson, Elle Online, Tried African Goddess Facial

'The facial started with a very relaxing back massage as a warm up to my facial, she then cleansed my face, which was followed by a gentle massage with several divinely scented aromatic oils and creams - all Africology products, of course.
Finally, with a mask on my face, she gave me a hand and foot massage, which was a great way to end the treatment.
After, my skin felt hydrated and I felt relaxed, which is a miracle in itself.  Looking at my skin, it appeared more evenly toned, smooth and super radiant, even my husband commented on how refreshed I looked – and he never normally notices things like that!
The radiance lasted a few days, but my skin still looks better than it did before.’

Safety in Skin Care

Attention: open in a new window. E-mail

Product packaging plays an important role in health care, glass being the safest, and aluminium containers being one of the most toxic.

Chemicals common to skincare products can cause inflammation, free radical damage and distortions in acid/alkaline balance. Chemicals also disrupt the biochemical and energetic order of the skin. A vast majority of diseases occur because of the build up of toxicity.

The no- no’s in AFRICOLOGY Here at Africology we want to instil in the consumer a culture of personal empowerment -- teaching you, the consumer, to read your cosmetic ingredient labels and become more aware of the products that might be a cocktail of toxins causing skin irritations, sensitiviity, acne, pigmentatin and disease from years of sustained use.

  • SODIUM LAURETH SULPHATE  - Eye irritiation, rashes, hair loss, flacking skin. When combined with other skincare chemicals can produce nitrosamines which are carcinogenic

  • PARABENS (Methyl, Butyl, Propyl) - preservative used in most cosmetics. A possible causative factor in male fertility problem, and breast tumors in women. Damages skin cell DNA

  • DEA- diethanolamine/ MEA monoethanolamine, and TEA- triethanolamine: These are hormone disrupting chemicals which can form carcinogenic nitrates and nitrosamines. Banned in Europe.

  • ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL SD-40 A drying & irritating solvent which disrupts your skin’s immune protective barrier, making it more vulnerable to invasion by microbes and to penetration by other destructive chemicals. SD-40 promotes the formation of irregular pigmentation and age spots as well as acne.

  • PROPYLENE GLYCOL  - Penetrates the skin and can weaken protein and cellular structure. Irritation and dermatitis, absorption. Susceptibility to Cancer.

  • DMDM Hydantoin- Imidazolidinyl  - These can release formaldehyde into the body, triggering skin reactions, allergies, joint pain, dizziness and low immunity. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen (causes cancer). Causes allergic, irritant and contact dermatitis, headaches and chronic fatigue. It undermines the life processes of the living matrix, that’s why morticians use it to embalm dead bodies.

  • EDTA and disodium EDTA. They have shown to accelerate the formation of hydroxy radicals which damage cell membranes and trigger degenerative changes in the cells. FAST TRACK TO RAPID AGEING.

  • IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA  - Formaldehyde releaser (see DMDM)

  • PHENOXYETHANOL Often used instead of a Paraben be aware of marketing that says 'Paraben Free' as it most likely has this as a replacement. Be especially wary of this in a baby range.

  • METHYCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE & METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE The isothiazolinones are some of the most  potent allergens on the consumer market. This preservative was responsible for the epidemic of contact sensitivity in the 80's and 90's, problems occured mostly when the ingredient was used in leave on products.

  • PHTHALATES - Used as a plasticiser, related to low sperm counts and causing sexual abnormalites and deformaties. Often hidden in a cosmetic label as perfum or frangrance.
african potato

African Potato balances the immune system and keeps it regulated. It is an African root, much like a potato or a turnip plant. Inedible as a vegetable, it has been used traditionally in Africa to keep away colds and fight infections. It is currently being used to treat AIDS patients, whose immunity is severely compromised.
